Where does your passion for painting come from?

I have always adored painting. Already as a child in kindergarten, I loved to play with colours. When I was six years old, I started to participate in competitions. Painting is a natural part of me. Taking this path was self-evident. So I attended the school of fine arts in Czechoslovakia, where I met my husband, Jiří Tylek. Together, we have lived for painting throughout our lives.

Why do you create? 

It's what motivates me every day. When I'm at home, I paint for up to five hours a day! I sometimes wake up at night with an idea in my head. And everything inspires me. Nature, travel, the encounters I make, gardens I discover… So many things can have an influence on my paintings. In some way, I try to capture the purity, poetry and grace of life. Through my paintings, I hope to convey serenity and peacefulness in just one look.

How did you form the Tylek & Tylecek duo?

Our art ultimately completes and reflects our personalities. I am fond of landscapes, the treasures of nature. My husband liked to express himself through figures. He painted in a more constructed way, whereas I thrived on movement.

How did your canvasses come to adorn the hotel's walls?

After a trip to Corsica, we had an incredible encounter that allowed us to exhibit our paintings in Crans-Montana. That was when Nati and Giancarlo Felli discovered us. They then invited us to work with them on their hotel's decor. We had carte blanche in producing the paintings. So we began to paint even before construction had commenced. Everything was made to measure, based on the plans, so each work would perfectly match the volumes of the rooms.
