After Vail Resorts' acquisition of the Crans-Montana Mountain ski lifts, Mike Goar, Operations Representative in Switzerland, unveils the ambitions of the American giant.
We have always had ambitions to expand our activities in Europe, and Crans-Montana is an incredible opportunity. Together with Andermatt, a ski resort acquired in 2022, it forms the cornerstone of our presence in Europe. We aim to offer a unique experience to our 2.5 million Epic Pass holders, allowing them to enjoy the ski slopes in Europe. The full pass, for example, gives unlimited access to our 42 resorts.
We are still in the planning phase, but our main objective is to make the experience of our local clients and all fans of skiing even more sublime. At the core of our priorities: the latest generation of ski lifts, renewed gastronomic offerings, and artificial snow enhanced by the most innovative technologies.
Vail Resorts is committed to attaining carbon neutrality by 2030. Our initiatives include the improvement of artificial snow, the modernisation of infrastructures to reduce our ecological footprint, the implementation of recycling and waste management programmes, and finally, the optimisation of our water and energy consumption. Each aspect of our operations is redesigned to ensure minimum impact on the environment.
On my first visit a few years ago, I was struck by the breathtaking panoramic views of the valley offered by this authentic and unspoilt nature. Renowned events such as the Alpine World Ski Championships, the Mountain Bike World Cup, and music festivals make it a prime destination for lovers of both sport and culture. On top of this, hoteliers, restaurateurs and tourism officials work with a shared passion to make this area exceptional. By collaborating with local players, we hope to write a new chapter together in the history of this iconic resort.
