With the passing seasons, the greens come back to life, inviting golfers to take up new challenges and garner unforgettable memories.
Overlooking the Rhône Valley from an altitude of 1500 metres, Crans-Montana basks beneath a sunny sky over 300 days a year, cradled in a century-old past recalling the most stunning swings. Its legendary courses - the prestigious Severiano Ballesteros (18-hole) and renowned Jack Nicklaus (9-hole) - attract golf lovers from all over the world.
Last winter, pursuing its aim of offering an increasingly exhilarating experience, the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club entrusted English architect Dave Sampson with redesigning holes 10 and 17. From the tee off, the first reveals a stunning panoramic view of the chain of the Alps that is hard to look away from, while the second, featuring a green with fearsome slopes protected by a bunker, promises the most accomplished golfers a tough challenge, all honoured by an area dedicated to spectators.
"Each year, we make modifications to the greens to create new obstacles and surprise the players," explains Pascal Schmalen, Director of the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club. "It is all about making the course even more attractive and demanding for professionals while preserving the enjoyment of playing for amateurs." An invitation to excel in a spectacular setting where a passion for golf is combined with the beauty of Alpine scenery.
